The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak states extremely effective cooperation between Ukraine and Poland.

“I am convinced that the dialogue between our countries this year will be charactirized by its activation, and first of all, by high level of trust and efficiency of each meeting and visit,” Volodymyr Rybak said during the meeting with the President of the Republic of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski in Warsaw on Monday.

Volodymyr Rybak stated also that bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation is focused on solving the most topical issues of bilateral relations.

“Tomorrow I will participate in the Fifth meeting of the Trilateral Inter-Parliamentary Assembly “Ukraine-Poland-Lithuania”. I am convinced that this important event will help us to coordinate our positions before important events related to Ukraine’s rapprochement to the European structures,” the Chairman of the Parliament said. “We hope to elaborate clear scheme of our joint actions during Lithuanian presidency in the European Union, especially in the context of Ukraine’s intention to sign the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement during the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius in November this year.”

Volodymyr Rybak appreciated the stability of Ukrainian-Polish trade and economic cooperation. He stressed on the readiness of the Ukrainian Party for dialogue with potential Polish investors and comprehensive implementation of new technologies in the sphere of energy saving, alternative energy and processing, that are actively used in Poland.

He confirmed interest in the next meeting of the Ukrainian-Polish intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Poland.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stated also that the Ukrainian Party is interested and will do everything to commemorate victims of Ukrainian-Polish confrontation during the Second World War, dubbed “Volyn massacre”.  “We should do our best to avoid politicization of the issues of tragic pages in the history of Ukraine and Poland. It is needed for confirmation of historical truth and justice, friendly and partner relations between our nations,” he stated.

“The Parliaments should say their weighty word. I know that the draft joint statement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Sejm of the Republic of Poland on establishing “the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation of Ukrainians and Poles” was sent for consideration by the Polish Party,” Volodymyr Rybak said.

In his turn, the President of the Republic of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski stressed that he positively accepted the draft of this statement. “It is easy to politicize any issue. But it is important to find mutual vision regarding its settlement,” Bronislaw Komorowski noted. “It would be preferable “to close this issue.” It would be a good sign.” Thereat, the President of the Republic of Poland noted: “It would be good for the Presidents of both countries to hold a joint speech. That would be a common sign for others.”

As informed earlier, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak is on his visit to the Republic of Poland on March 25-26 to participate in the Fifth meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Trilateral Assembly “Ukraine-Poland-Lithuania”.
